About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Chemical Engineer to enhance their safety protocols and compliance initiatives in Reading . This critical role will focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards to ensure a safe working environment and prevent incidents. You will be integral in developing and implementing robust safety management systems and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of chemical processes and a deep commitment to safety excellence within the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) programs and procedures.
- Review process designs and modifications for safety compliance and risk reduction.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide training and guidance on process safety principles and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety-focused discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and PSM standards (e.g., OSHA, COMAH).
- Experience with risk assessment tools and software.
- Strong understanding of chemical process operations and equipment.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
