About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Chemical Engineer to join their vital safety team in Wolverhampton . This role is paramount in ensuring the highest standards of process safety are maintained across all operations, safeguarding personnel, the environment, and company assets. You will be responsible for conducting safety assessments, developing procedures, and driving a strong safety culture throughout the organization. This is an essential position for a safety-focused engineer looking to make a tangible difference in the West Midlands industrial community, contributing to robust safety management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and consequence modeling.
- Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
- Investigate process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and practices to engineering and operations personnel.
- Review designs for new and modified processes to ensure inherent safety is incorporated from the outset.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline with a strong emphasis on safety engineering.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in process safety engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or related industries.
- In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies, risk assessment techniques, and PSM elements.
- Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and emergency relief system design.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to communicate complex safety concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
