About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to ensure the highest standards of safety are maintained across their chemical manufacturing facilities in Coventry . This role is critical in identifying and mitigating risks associated with chemical processes, safeguarding personnel, the environment, and assets. You will work closely with operational teams to embed a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices in the chemical engineering field.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies for new and existing processes.
- Develop and implement robust safety management systems, policies, and procedures to minimize operational risks.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending preventative actions.
- Ensure compliance with UK and international safety regulations relevant to the chemical industry .
- Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and practices to engineering and operations staff.
- Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for all modifications to plant and equipment.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline with a strong focus on safety.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical or petrochemical sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting risk assessments and implementing safety management systems.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards such as COMAH, ATEX, and Seveso directives.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
- Proficiency in safety software and data analysis tools.
