Process Safety Engineer - Remote Oil & Gas

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced Process Safety Engineer to join their global team, working remotely from Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK . This critical role will focus on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all Oil & Gas operations, identifying and mitigating risks associated with hazardous processes and materials. You will play a key part in developing and implementing robust safety management systems, fostering a strong safety culture, and contributing to the prevention of major accidents. This is a fully remote position, offering significant flexibility for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure compliance with process safety requirements.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to relevant personnel.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in process safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering within the Oil & Gas or chemical industries.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP methodologies and other PHA techniques.
• Familiarity with international process safety standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
• Experience in risk assessment and consequence modeling.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
