About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent . This critical role ensures the safe design, operation, and maintenance of all chemical processes, safeguarding personnel, the environment, and company assets. You will be responsible for implementing and managing process safety management (PSM) systems, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong commitment to safety and a comprehensive understanding of chemical engineering principles applied to hazard mitigation within a plant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
- Conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Review engineering designs to ensure compliance with process safety standards and best practices.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
- Monitor key safety performance indicators and report on compliance and risk reduction efforts.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline with a strong focus on safety.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical or manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, COMAH).
- Proven experience in conducting PHAs and developing safety procedures.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and safety systems.
- Ability to work effectively on-site in Stoke-on-Trent and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
