Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols and risk management within their operations, based in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is crucial for ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all stages of plant operation and project development in the oil and gas industry. You will be responsible for conducting hazard analyses, developing safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements, safeguarding both personnel and assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international safety regulations and standards.
• Review engineering designs and operational procedures for potential safety hazards.
• Investigate process safety incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance and training on process safety principles to operational teams.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the oil and gas or chemical processing industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and PSM elements.
• Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., COMAH, Seveso).
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to systematically identify and mitigate risks.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
