Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols and standards within their operations in Sheffield, South Yorkshire . This critical role focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment across the Oil & Gas facilities. You will lead safety studies, develop emergency response plans, and ensure compliance with rigorous safety regulations. Working closely with operations and engineering teams, you will be instrumental in fostering a strong safety culture and protecting personnel and assets. This position is key to maintaining operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and what-if studies.
• Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations.
• Oversee the development and testing of emergency response plans.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety matters to project and operational teams.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering , preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of process safety principles, standards, and methodologies.
• Experience with risk assessment techniques and safety software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to influence and drive safety improvements across the organization.
