Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

An opportunity exists for a skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our client's operations on a contract basis, initially based near Milton Keynes with the potential for remote work. This role is critical for ensuring the highest standards of safety across all chemical processes. You will be responsible for assessing risks, developing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This is an excellent chance to apply your expertise in a role that directly impacts operational safety and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop and implement robust safety management systems and procedures.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., COMAH).
• Provide expert advice on process safety matters to project teams and operational staff.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to employees.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in process safety engineering, ideally within the chemical or manufacturing sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with relevant safety legislation and guidelines.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively, suitable for a remote role.
