Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent Process Safety Engineer to contribute to their established operations based in Milton Keynes . This hybrid role involves ensuring the highest standards of safety are met across all chemical processing activities, from design through to operational maintenance. You will play a key role in hazard identification, risk assessment, and the development of robust safety management systems. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a commitment to fostering a safety-first culture, working closely with site personnel and management to mitigate risks and prevent incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP and LOPA studies.
• Develop and implement safety procedures, including emergency response plans.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Provide safety training and guidance to plant personnel and engineering teams.
• Review engineering designs for safety implications and provide input during the design phase.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or process industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and safety management systems.
• Familiarity with relevant UK and international safety regulations.
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid model.
