Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to join their globally distributed team, operating on a fully remote basis. This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest levels of safety in chemical processes across all company sites. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert guidance to engineering and operational teams worldwide. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, including HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL analyses.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide expert technical advice on safety-related design aspects and operational procedures.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards (e.g., COMAH).
• Develop and deliver process safety training materials to relevant personnel.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in process safety engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline with a strong focus on safety.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical or process industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, risk assessment methodologies, and safety design principles.
• Proven experience in conducting and leading HAZOP and LOPA studies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, suitable for remote interaction.
• Professional certification in process safety (e.g., CCPSC) is highly desirable.
