About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent Process Safety Engineer to join their safety and risk management team in Oxford . This vital role ensures the integrity of processes and the safety of personnel and the environment within the Oil & Gas sector . You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related risks through the application of robust safety engineering principles and methodologies. Working across engineering disciplines and operations, you will play a key part in fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety-focused engineer to make a significant impact in a key operational area.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA studies.
- Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Assess risks associated with facility design, modifications, and operations, recommending mitigation measures.
- Review engineering designs and operational procedures for compliance with process safety standards.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry or chemical processing.
- Strong understanding of process safety principles, regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM), and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in conducting and documenting HAZOP studies and other risk assessment techniques.
- Experience with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
