About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer for a fully remote position. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe design, operation, and maintenance of the company's upstream and downstream facilities. You will be responsible for implementing robust process safety management (PSM) systems, conducting hazard identification and risk assessments, and developing strategies to mitigate potential process-related incidents. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced engineer to drive safety excellence and foster a culture of proactive risk management across the organization, working remotely from Liverpool or elsewhere.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop and maintain company standards for process safety management (PSM).
- Conduct pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs) and management of change (MOC) reviews.
- Analyze incident data to identify trends and implement preventative measures.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety principles to engineering and operational teams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience focused on process safety engineering in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
- Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety standards (IEC 61508/61511).
- Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
