Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their established team in Southampton . This crucial role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety across all chemical processing operations, mitigating risks, and promoting a strong safety culture. You will be responsible for conducting hazard assessments, developing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust process safety management (PSM) systems.
• Ensure compliance with all local and international safety regulations and standards.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to operations and engineering staff.
• Provide technical expertise on process safety aspects for new projects and modifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or manufacturing industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM regulations and industry best practices.
• Experience with various PHA methodologies and risk assessment tools.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, equipment, and control systems.
• Excellent reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
