Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Process Safety Engineer to join their team, operating in a fully remote capacity. This pivotal role ensures the highest standards of safety are maintained across all chemical processes and operations. You will be responsible for identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and developing robust safety strategies and management systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of process safety principles, regulations, and best practices, coupled with excellent analytical and communication skills to effectively collaborate with site teams and management, all from a remote work environment. This position is crucial for upholding our client's commitment to operational integrity and the well-being of its employees and the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs ), including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM ) systems and procedures.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, Seveso Directive).
• Provide technical expertise and training on process safety principles to engineering, operations, and management personnel.
• Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure safety considerations are fully integrated.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, or a related safety-focused discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or related industries.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP methodologies, LOPA, SIL assessment, and other risk assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS ) design and verification.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks governing process safety.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex safety information clearly to diverse audiences in a remote setting.
