About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Process Safety Engineer to ensure the highest standards of safety in their operations based in Reading . This crucial role involves the identification, assessment, and mitigation of process-related hazards. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and management teams to implement and maintain robust safety management systems. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to a safe working environment while enjoying a balance between on-site collaboration and remote work flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA studies.
- Develop and implement safety procedures, standards, and guidelines in line with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee risk assessment activities and ensure effective mitigation strategies are in place.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide technical expertise and training on process safety to site personnel.
- Maintain documentation related to process safety, including safety cases and management systems.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in process safety management (PSM) within the chemical, petrochemical, or related industries.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., COMAH, OSHA).
- Proficiency in conducting and facilitating PHAs.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and consequence modelling.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills, suitable for a hybrid work model in Reading .
