Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their established team in Bradford . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all chemical processes and operations. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential hazards, developing safety protocols, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization. This position requires a proactive approach to risk management and a deep understanding of relevant safety legislation and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to plant personnel.
• Maintain safety documentation and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety-focused discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and PSM elements.
• Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, COMAH).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all levels of the organization.
