Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Process Safety Engineer to join their industrial operations team in Bradford . This role is critical for ensuring the safety and integrity of all process operations, safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust process safety management systems, conducting hazard identification and risk assessments, and driving a culture of safety excellence across the facility. This is a hands-on position requiring a strong technical background and a commitment to proactive risk mitigation in a non-remote industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., COMAH, Seveso III).
• Perform safety reviews for new and modified processes, equipment, and facilities.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to operational personnel.
• Maintain process safety information and documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or Oil & Gas industry.
• Thorough understanding of process safety principles, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with risk assessment techniques and safety software tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively on-site and collaborate with diverse teams.
