Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the petrochemical industry, is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their established team in Manchester . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all chemical operations, minimizing risks and preventing incidents. You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing robust process safety management systems, conducting thorough hazard analyses, and promoting a strong safety culture. The successful candidate will play a vital part in protecting personnel, assets, and the environment, contributing to the company's unwavering commitment to operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and policies.
• Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses to identify systemic failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards in Manchester .
• Review engineering designs and Management of Change (MOC) procedures for safety implications.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to site personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical or process industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements (e.g., OSHA , EPA RMP).
• Proven experience in conducting and leading PHAs and incident investigations.
• Strong understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and relief system design.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a keen eye for detail.
