Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Manchester . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety across all chemical processes and operations, safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust process safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and driving a proactive safety culture. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies for new and existing processes.
• Develop, implement, and audit Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in compliance with relevant regulations.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to engineers, operators, and management.
• Review process design basis, P&IDs, and operating procedures for safety implications.
• Champion a strong safety culture, promoting best practices and continuous improvement in process safety performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety regulations, standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH), and industry best practices.
• Proven experience in conducting various types of risk assessments and consequence modeling.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience working remotely or in a hybrid capacity is beneficial, demonstrating adaptability and self-management.
