About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their established team in Birmingham . You will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of safety across all operational sites, focusing on hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of robust safety management systems. This role involves a mix of site visits and office-based work, offering a dynamic and impactful career. You will work closely with operational staff and management to foster a strong safety culture and mitigate risks inherent in the Oil & Gas industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive HAZOP (Hazard and Operability studies) and LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis).
- Develop and implement process safety procedures and management systems (PSM).
- Perform risk assessments, including consequence modeling and failure analysis.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide technical expertise and training on process safety principles and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK and international safety legislation and industry standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in process safety engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector .
- In-depth knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA , and other risk assessment methodologies.
- Familiarity with major accident hazard regulations and safety management systems.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to effectively communicate safety requirements.
