Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to bolster their safety culture and compliance efforts in Manchester . This role is vital for identifying, assessing, and controlling process-related hazards within oil and gas facilities. You will be instrumental in implementing and maintaining robust safety management systems, conducting rigorous risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP and LOPA studies.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Manage the mechanical integrity of critical equipment and systems.
• Investigate incidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., Seveso Directive).
• Provide safety training and guidance to operational personnel.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety within the oil and gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety standards (IEC 61508/61511).
• Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of relevant international safety regulations.
