About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Process Safety Engineer to join their team, offering a remote working arrangement. Based remotely and supporting operations across the UK, including their Belfast facilities, you will be the guardian of safety, ensuring all chemical processes meet the highest industry standards. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with chemical operations. This role requires a proactive approach to safety management and a deep understanding of regulatory requirements. You will work collaboratively with site teams and senior management to foster a robust safety culture and drive continuous improvement in process safety performance, making a significant contribution to operational integrity and employee well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Develop and implement robust Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and programs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international safety regulations and standards.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide expert guidance and training on process safety principles and best practices to engineering and operational teams.
- Review designs for new equipment and modifications to existing processes to ensure safety integration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience in process safety engineering .
- In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, risk assessment methodologies, and safety instrumentation systems (SIS).
- Familiarity with relevant UK and international safety legislation and guidance (e.g., COMAH).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills, adaptable to a remote communication environment.
