Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a renowned specialty chemicals manufacturer, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols and risk management across their operations in Manchester . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety are maintained, actively identifying and mitigating potential hazards. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and management teams to implement robust safety management systems and foster a strong safety culture. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process to ensure safety implications are thoroughly evaluated.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical or process industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, hazard identification techniques, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and layer of protection analysis (LOPA).
• Strong understanding of chemical process operations and equipment.
• Excellent reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
