Procurement Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Procurement Analyst to join their purchasing department in Edinburgh . This role is crucial for providing data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making within the procurement function. You will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and reporting on procurement data, identifying trends, and highlighting opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Working closely with the procurement team and other departments, you will play a key role in optimising spend and ensuring value for money. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and analyse procurement data, including spend, supplier performance, and market trends.
• Develop and maintain procurement dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements through data analysis.
• Support the negotiation process by providing relevant market data and cost analysis.
• Assist in supplier performance monitoring and evaluation.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity within procurement systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an analytical role, preferably within procurement or finance.
• Strong proficiency in data analysis tools, particularly Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) and potentially BI tools like Tableau or Power BI.
• Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Good understanding of procurement processes and terminology.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
• A degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, or a related analytical field is preferred.
