Procurement Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join their purchasing department in Cambridge . This role will involve managing various procurement activities, including sourcing suppliers, negotiating terms, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services. You will play a key part in optimizing procurement processes, maintaining supplier relationships, and contributing to cost-saving initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team to support the company's operational needs and strategic sourcing goals, contributing to the efficient functioning of their supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the sourcing and evaluation of suppliers, ensuring compliance with company standards and policies.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers for goods and services.
• Manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise.
• Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and supplier information.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their purchasing requirements and provide timely support.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the procurement function.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a procurement , purchasing, or buying role.
• Knowledge of sourcing strategies and negotiation techniques.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and standard office applications.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• A relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., CIPS) is advantageous.
