Product Development Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and skilled Product Development Engineer to join their innovative team in Southampton . This role is essential for driving new product initiatives from concept through to market launch, focusing on the mechanical engineering aspects. You will work in a hybrid capacity, collaborating closely with R&D, marketing, and manufacturing teams to ensure the successful development and implementation of new mechanical designs. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development process for new products, from ideation to prototyping and testing.
• Utilize CAD software and simulation tools to create and analyze designs, ensuring functionality and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and specifications.
• Develop and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs) and product documentation.
• Conduct product testing and validation, identifying and resolving any design-related issues.
• Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure smooth production ramp-up and quality control.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development and mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, Fusion 360) and experience with simulation tools.
• Solid understanding of various manufacturing processes and materials selection.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing remote and on-site collaboration.
