About the Role
Our client is looking for a creative and hands-on Product Development Mechanical Engineer to join their innovation hub in Glasgow . This role is centred around the design, prototyping, and testing of new mechanical products from initial concept through to market launch. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including industrial designers and electronics engineers, to bring novel ideas to life. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer passionate about product creation, with a knack for problem-solving and a drive to develop market-leading consumer goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, design, and develop new mechanical products and features using 3D CAD software.
- Build and test prototypes, iterating designs based on performance feedback and user testing.
- Conduct engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, to validate designs.
- Create detailed manufacturing documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
- Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure product quality and scalability.
- Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in product development and mechanical design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and experience with rapid prototyping techniques.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes for plastics, metals, and composites.
- Ability to conduct design validation and verification testing.
- Strong creative problem-solving skills and a passion for product innovation.
