About the Role
Our client is seeking a passionate and innovative Product Development Scientist to join their research and development team in Derby , specializing in the dynamic FMCG sector. This role is crucial for creating and refining new products that meet evolving consumer needs and market trends. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from concept generation and formulation to laboratory testing, pilot-scale production, and final product launch. Working within a state-of-the-art facility, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring exciting new FMCG products to market, ensuring quality, safety, and consumer appeal.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of new FMCG products from concept ideation through to commercialization, ensuring they meet defined specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, formulation development, and sensory evaluations to create and optimize product recipes.
- Plan and execute pilot plant trials and scale-up activities, troubleshooting any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
- Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches and efficient production.
- Research market trends, consumer preferences, and new ingredients to identify opportunities for product innovation and improvement within the FMCG market .
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development, ideally within the FMCG industry , with a focus on food or beverage products.
- Strong understanding of food chemistry, formulation techniques, and product development processes.
- Experience with laboratory equipment, pilot plant operations, and scale-up procedures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities, essential for collaborating with diverse teams in Derby .
