About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Product Development Scientist to join their FMCG food division in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is integral to the creation and refinement of new food products, ensuring they meet stringent quality, safety, and consumer appeal standards. You will be responsible for benchtop formulation, pilot plant trials, and supporting the scale-up process for commercial production. Key Responsibilities
- Develop new food product formulations from concept to commercialization, adhering to project timelines and budgets.
- Conduct benchtop experiments, sensory evaluations, and stability testing to assess product viability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, and quality assurance throughout the development process.
- Support pilot plant trials and scale-up activities, troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety regulations, quality standards, and nutritional guidelines.
- Research emerging trends, ingredients, and technologies to drive product innovation.
Requirements
- Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in product development within the FMCG food industry.
- Proven ability to formulate and develop new food products, with a strong understanding of food chemistry and processing.
- Experience with benchtop formulation, sensory analysis, and shelf-life studies.
- Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
