About the Role
Our client, a renowned innovator in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, is seeking a talented and creative Product Development Scientist to join their research and development team in Edinburgh . This role is central to the conception and creation of new and improved consumer products, driving innovation from lab-scale formulation to pilot production. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing, to ensure new products meet consumer needs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, contributing to the company's competitive edge through scientific expertise and a hybrid work arrangement that balances hands-on lab work with remote collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, formulate, and develop new consumer products and reformulate existing ones.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, pilot plant trials, and scale-up studies for new product introductions.
- Analyze product performance, stability, and sensory attributes to ensure high quality and consumer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, regulatory, and manufacturing, throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Research new ingredients, technologies, and methodologies to drive product innovation.
- Prepare technical documentation, including formulation reports and specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in product development, preferably within the FMCG or food manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of formulation science, ingredient functionality, and product testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment relevant to product development.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting.
