Product Development Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Product Development Scientist to join their research and development team in Cambridge . This role is integral to creating new and improved FMCG products, ensuring they meet high standards of quality, safety, and consumer appeal. You will conduct research, develop formulations, and manage product testing within a state-of-the-art facility. Working within a hybrid model, you'll collaborate with R&D colleagues, marketing, and manufacturing teams, blending laboratory work with remote analysis and project management to drive forward our client's product pipeline in the competitive UK market .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new product formulations and optimize existing ones to meet market demands and consumer preferences.
• Conduct laboratory experiments, benchtop testing, and pilot plant trials for new product concepts.
• Ensure all product development activities comply with relevant industry regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sensory evaluation, and manufacturing, to ensure successful product launches.
• Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, process descriptions, and test reports.
• Stay abreast of emerging scientific advancements, ingredients, and technologies relevant to FMCG product development.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in product development within the FMCG industry .
• Proven expertise in formulation development, ingredient functionality, and product testing methodologies.
• Strong understanding of food processing techniques and quality control principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setup, with strong communication skills for remote collaboration and lab-based work in Cambridge .
