Product Development Technologist - FMCG

About the Role

Our client, a significant and innovative player in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is looking for a skilled Product Development Technologist to join their team in Brighton . This role is central to the creation and improvement of new and existing products, ensuring they meet stringent quality, safety, and consumer satisfaction standards. You will work closely with the R&D, marketing, and production teams to bring innovative concepts from the laboratory to the supermarket shelf. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development activities to create new and innovative FMCG products according to defined specifications.
• Optimize existing product formulations for improved quality, cost-effectiveness, and shelf-life.
• Perform sensory evaluations and product testing to ensure products meet quality and performance standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, procurement, and manufacturing, throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Ensure all product development activities comply with relevant food safety regulations and company quality standards.
• Prepare technical documentation, including product specifications, ingredient lists, and manufacturing instructions.

Requirements

• Experience in Product Development or a similar technical role within the FMCG or food industry.
• Strong understanding of food science, ingredient functionality, and manufacturing processes relevant to consumer goods.
• Proficiency in conducting product trials, testing, and sensory analysis.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, such as HACCP and BRC, is essential.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• A degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Technology, or a related scientific discipline.
