Product Development Technologist - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Product Development Technologist to join their innovative FMCG product development team in Bristol . This role is integral to the creation and refinement of new and existing consumer products, ensuring they meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards while delighting consumers. You will work closely with R&D, marketing, and production teams to bring exciting new products to market, from concept to launch. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory-based product development and reformulation of FMCG products , focusing on taste, texture, and appearance.
• Develop product specifications and ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and quality standards.
• Scale-up new products from laboratory bench to pilot plant and full-scale production.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sensory, and manufacturing, throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Conduct shelf-life studies and nutritional analysis for new and existing products.
• Troubleshoot production issues related to product quality and consistency.

Requirements

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in product development, preferably within the FMCG food and beverage industry .
• Strong understanding of food chemistry, processing, and manufacturing principles.
• Excellent practical laboratory skills and experience with product sensory evaluation.
• Familiarity with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, BRC) and nutritional labeling requirements.
