Product Development Technologist - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and innovative Product Development Technologist to join their R&D team in Reading , supporting their diverse range of FMCG products. This role is pivotal in driving new product innovation from concept through to launch, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and consumer appeal. You will be involved in recipe development, product testing, and liaising with manufacturing to scale up successful innovations. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled individual passionate about food science and product development to contribute to the success of market-leading brands.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the development of new FMCG products from initial concept, considering market trends, consumer needs, and business objectives.
• Conduct benchtop product development, formulation, and sensory evaluation trials.
• Develop and optimize product recipes and manufacturing processes to ensure consistency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare product specifications and ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and labelling requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Conduct shelf-life studies and stability testing to ensure product integrity.

Requirements

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in product development, ideally within the FMCG food and beverage industry .
• Strong understanding of food chemistry, processing techniques, and quality control principles.
• Excellent practical laboratory skills and experience with product testing methodologies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
