About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Product Development Technologist to join their dedicated R&D team in Reading . This on-site role is central to the creation of new and improved FMCG products, driving innovation from concept to launch. You will work hands-on in a laboratory environment, conducting trials, analyzing results, and ensuring products meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory-based product development trials and experiments according to project briefs.
- Develop new product formulations and optimize existing ones to meet consumer needs and business objectives.
- Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Scale up product formulations from benchtop to pilot plant and production, ensuring consistency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, procurement, and operations, throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Analyze competitor products and market trends to identify opportunities for innovation.
Requirements
- Experience as a Product Development Technologist or similar role in the FMCG or food industry.
- Strong understanding of food science, formulation development, and processing techniques.
- Proficiency in laboratory practices and sensory evaluation methods.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, BRC).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
