Product Development Technologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and skilled Product Development Technologist to join their dynamic research and development team. This hybrid role, based in Derby , offers the opportunity to contribute to the creation of cutting-edge products within the FMCG sector. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and formulation to testing and launch, ensuring products meet quality, safety, and consumer satisfaction standards. This position requires a blend of scientific expertise, creativity, and collaborative skills, working both in the lab and remotely to bring new and improved products to market.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and reformulate new and existing FMCG products, focusing on quality, taste, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct laboratory trials, pilot plant trials, and full-scale production runs, documenting all processes.
• Ensure product development aligns with regulatory requirements, company standards, and consumer trends.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, procurement, and manufacturing, throughout the development process.
• Analyze competitor products and market innovations to identify opportunities for new product development.
• Support product launch activities and troubleshoot any production issues related to product formulation.

Requirements

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development, preferably within the FMCG industry .
• Practical experience in formulation, sensory evaluation, and product testing.
• Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes and quality assurance.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, demonstrating strong communication and teamwork skills.
