Production Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Production Chemist to join their operations team in Glasgow . This role is essential for ensuring the efficient and effective chemical management of oil and gas production processes. You will be responsible for monitoring and optimizing the performance of production chemicals, diagnosing and resolving production chemistry challenges, and ensuring environmental compliance. This is a key technical position that requires a strong understanding of oilfield chemistry and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze production fluid samples to assess chemistry performance and identify issues.
• Optimize the application of production chemicals (e.g., corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, demulsifiers).
• Troubleshoot and resolve production chemistry problems affecting asset integrity and production rates.
• Conduct laboratory testing and field trials to evaluate new chemical treatments.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to chemical usage and disposal.
• Collaborate with production engineers and operations teams on chemical management strategies.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in production chemistry within the oil and gas industry.
• Strong understanding of oilfield water chemistry, multiphase flow, and hydrocarbon properties.
• Experience with various production chemicals and their application.
• Knowledge of analytical techniques for fluid and deposit analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to interpret complex chemical data.
