Production Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Production Chemist to support their operations in the Oil & Gas sector, based in Derby . This role focuses on optimizing production processes through chemical analysis, troubleshooting, and the development of chemical treatment programs. You will work closely with production engineers and operations teams to address challenges related to fluid properties, corrosion, scaling, and emulsion breaking. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytical chemistry and a good understanding of the chemical challenges encountered in oil and gas production. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to operational efficiency and asset integrity in our Derby facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze production samples to monitor fluid composition and identify production issues.
• Develop and recommend appropriate chemical treatment programs to optimize production and protect assets.
• Troubleshoot operational problems related to scale, corrosion, and emulsion formation.
• Monitor the effectiveness of chemical treatments and adjust programs as needed.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate new chemical products and technologies.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience as a Production Chemist or in a similar role within the Oil & Gas industry is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques and laboratory equipment.
• Understanding of production chemistry, including scale, corrosion, and emulsion issues.
• Strong problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
