About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Production Chemist to join their operations team in Sunderland . This role is essential for monitoring and optimizing the chemical processes involved in oil and gas production, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with environmental standards. You will be responsible for analysing production fluids, recommending chemical treatments, and troubleshooting operational issues related to chemistry. This is a hands-on role for a chemist who enjoys applying their knowledge in an industrial setting and contributing to the smooth running of complex production facilities, working closely with operations and engineering staff in the Tyne and Wear region.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze production fluids (oil, water, gas) to determine composition and identify potential issues.
- Develop, implement, and monitor chemical treatment programs to optimize production and prevent corrosion, scaling, and fouling.
- Troubleshoot chemical-related operational problems and recommend effective solutions.
- Conduct laboratory tests and field studies to evaluate the performance of production chemicals.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding chemical usage and discharge.
- Prepare technical reports on chemical performance, operational issues, and recommendations.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience as a Production Chemist or in a similar role within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of production chemistry, including corrosion, scale, water treatment, and emulsion breaking.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques and laboratory instrumentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations.
