Production Engineer - Chemical

About the Role

Our client requires a motivated Production Engineer to join their manufacturing facility in Portsmouth . This role focuses on ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of chemical production lines, optimizing output, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. You will work closely with plant operators, maintenance teams, and quality control to achieve production targets and implement continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on role ideal for an engineer looking to directly impact manufacturing efficiency in a busy industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production activities, ensuring targets for volume, quality, and cost are met.
• Monitor process parameters and equipment performance, identifying and resolving operational issues promptly.
• Implement and support Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule and execute preventative maintenance activities.
• Ensure all production activities comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Analyze production data to identify trends and implement corrective actions for performance enhancement.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 2-3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role, preferably in the chemical sector.
• Practical understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Experience with process control, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with operators and management.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations in an industrial environment.
