Production Planner & Scheduler

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Production Planner & Scheduler to join their busy team in Edinburgh . This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials and products through the manufacturing process. You will be responsible for developing and managing production schedules that optimize resource utilization, meet demand, and minimize lead times. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical aptitude and experience in supply chain or operations management within a manufacturing or production setting, contributing to efficient operations in a key Scottish industrial hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate production schedules based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and resource availability.
• Coordinate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure timely material availability and product shipment.
• Monitor production progress against schedules, identifying and resolving any deviations or bottlenecks.
• Optimize production sequencing to maximize throughput and minimize changeover times.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems and planning software to manage and track production orders.
• Provide regular reports on production status, performance metrics, and potential risks to management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and planning/scheduling software.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to forecast and plan effectively.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with various departments.
