About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly organized and proactive Production Planner to join their team at their facility in Edinburgh . This role is central to ensuring the efficient scheduling and coordination of all manufacturing activities, balancing demand with production capacity to meet customer requirements and deadlines. You will work closely with various departments, including production, procurement, and sales, to create realistic and optimized production plans. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail to contribute significantly to the operational success of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and material availability.
- Monitor production progress against the schedule, identifying and addressing any deviations or delays proactively.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Collaborate with production supervisors to manage capacity and resource allocation effectively.
- Maintain accurate production planning data and generate reports on scheduling performance and key metrics.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the planning and scheduling function.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role within manufacturing.
- Proficiency in production planning software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
