Project & Procurement Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing high-end residential construction business, offering genuine long-term career progression and exposure to some exceptional projects.

The company delivers highly specified residential projects typically valued from £1m upwards, including bespoke new-build homes, substantial extensions, heritage refurbishments and complex conversions.

With four live projects running at any one time and continued plans for growth, they are looking to strengthen their procurement and project team with someone who wants to develop alongside the business.

The company is particularly interested in speaking with graduates or individuals with around 1-2 years' experience who are looking to establish a career within construction, procurement or project management.

However, they are equally open to considering more experienced procurement professionals who could join at a higher level and bring additional knowledge to the team. Salary, package and job title can be adjusted accordingly for the right person.

Project & Procurement Assistant - The Role

This is much more than a traditional administration position.

You will work closely with the Procurement Manager and wider project team, gaining hands-on exposure to procurement, commercial management and project delivery while being supported by experienced senior construction professionals with Tier 1 contracting backgrounds.

Responsibilities will include:

*

Supporting procurement across four live construction projects

*

Sending enquiries and obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors

*

Comparing quotations and assisting with procurement decisions

*

Raising and tracking purchase orders

*

Chasing materials, orders, deliveries and lead times

*

Liaising directly with merchants, suppliers and subcontractors

*

Maintaining procurement trackers and project records

*

Keeping drawings and project information organised and up to date

*

Supporting project administration and document control

*

Assisting site and project teams with day-to-day requirements

*

Visiting live projects when required

*

Gaining exposure to the wider commercial and project management functions of the business

For someone joining at a more experienced level, the position can be developed around your existing procurement experience and the areas where you can add value to the business.

Who Are We Looking For?

There isn't one fixed background required for this position.

The business would be interested in speaking with:

*

Graduates looking to begin a career within construction

*

Candidates with 1-2 years' experience within construction, procurement, buying or project administration

*

Individuals working within builders' merchants, suppliers or building materials businesses looking to move contractor-side

*

Buying Assistants, Procurement Assistants, Purchasing Assistants and Project Administrators

*

More experienced Procurement or Buying professionals looking for their next opportunity within a growing contractor

Above all, they are looking for someone organised, commercially minded, confident communicating with people and keen to take responsibility.

Career Development

For someone earlier in their career, this is an opportunity to learn directly from experienced construction professionals rather than being placed into a narrow junior role.

As the company continues to grow, there is significant scope over the next five years to develop into areas including:

Project Management | Procurement | Buying | Commercial Management

The direction can be shaped around your strengths and the area of construction you enjoy most.

Why Join?

You will benefit from:

*

Exposure to four live projects at any one time

*

High-end residential projects valued from £1m upwards

*

Bespoke new builds, heritage refurbishments, conversions and major extensions

*

Direct support from senior construction professionals with Tier 1 experience

*

Exposure across procurement, commercial management and project delivery

*

Genuine long-term progression as the company grows

*

Company vehicle available for site visits

*

Fuel covered for business travel

*

Flexible and accommodating approach to working hours where required

*

Typical hours of approximately 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

*

Salary, package and position adjusted accordingly for more experienced candidates
