Project Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a diligent Project Chemical Engineer for a critical, fixed-term contract role based in Portsmouth . This position will focus on managing and executing specific chemical engineering projects from conception through to completion. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating resources, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external contractors, requiring strong project management skills and a thorough understanding of chemical processes and plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned chemical engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery according to project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, operations, and procurement teams, as well as external vendors and contractors.
• Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and process modifications.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare project reports, technical specifications, and progress updates for stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in project engineering or project management within the chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
• Familiarity with process design, equipment selection, and construction management.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site presence with remote collaboration.
