The company designs, builds and maintains material handling, storage and processing systems for plant and commercial customers across the UK, with projects typically ranging from £100k to £2m.
The role
You will take projects from sales handover right through to post-commissioning review, owning programme, procurement, resource, commercial performance, site coordination and the customer relationship. Projects combine mechanical plant, structural steelwork, civils, electrical and controls integration, and you will typically run three to six at once. You will report to the Project Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Build and manage detailed project programmes and coordinate internal, supplier and subcontractor resource
- Brief the design team clearly and review design outputs before they go to procurement and site
- Place purchase orders, manage supplier lead times and expedite long-lead items
- Coordinate subcontractors, particularly civils, groundworks and electrical
- Visit site at key stages, resolve technical and logistical issues and discharge CDM duties
- Own project margin: job costing against quote, variations, stage payments and cashflow
- Act as the main point of contact for the customer throughout delivery
- Contribute to lessons learned, process improvement and team development
What you will bring
- At least five years carrying personal responsibility for projects in engineering, construction, industrial plant or a similar technical delivery environment
- Experience running projects of £100k+, ideally several at once
- Strong programme planning, procurement and subcontractor management skills
- Commercial discipline, comfortable with job costing and variations
- Working knowledge of CDM 2015 and site health and safety
- Confident reading GAs, P&IDs, electrical schematics and fabrication drawings (no CAD output required)
- Day-to-day use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot or Claude to speed up drafting, research and admin
- Full UK driving licence, right to work in the UK, and happy to travel and stay away when needed
Nice to have
- Background in agricultural, bulk handling or process plant systems
- Knowledge of drying, storage or crop processing equipment
- APM, PRINCE2 or similar, and membership of a relevant professional body
- CSCS, SMSTS or SSSTS (training can be funded)
Package
- £38,000 to £42,000 basic, reviewed annually
- Company vehicle
- Contributory pension
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays
- Hybrid working where the project schedule allows
- Relocation support for the right candidate
- Funded professional development and qualifications
A clear progression path is on offer towards larger projects and more commercial responsibility. Please apply ASAP to avoid missing out
