Job Description
Project Manager – Engineering Project Delivery – Cheshire – £60-68k
+++ Growing engineering solutions provider +++ Varied capital projects +++ Modern, high-spec offices +++ Chartered status support +++ Genuine career progression +++
Samuel Frank is recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join a growing Cheshire-based engineering solutions provider delivering complex technical projects for blue-chip customers across the process, utilities, manufacturing and nuclear sectors.
This Project Manager role would suit someone with a strong track record in supplier-side engineering project delivery – whether that’s with a systems integrator, OEM, machine builder, capital equipment manufacturer, EC&I contractor or engineering contractor. A controls or automation background is useful but not essential; what matters most is proven engineering project delivery for external customers.
You’ll take commercial and technical responsibility for customer projects from initial scope and design through build, FAT, installation, commissioning and final handover, leading multidisciplinary engineering teams along the way.
Key skills and experience required for the Project Manager role include:
- Proven supplier-side engineering project delivery experience, managing technical projects for external customers
- Background with a systems integrator, OEM, machine builder, equipment manufacturer, EC&I contractor or engineering contractor
- Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle from scope and design through to FAT, installation, commissioning and handover
- Commercially aware with experience managing project budgets, costs, stage payments, variations and contractual obligations
- Strong customer and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable coordinating mechanical, electrical, controls and software resources, schedules and deliverables
- Exposure to electrical, controls, automation or instrumentation projects would be advantageous but is not essential
- APM, PRINCE2 or similar Project Management qualification would be advantageous
- Full UK driving licence and able to work in the UK without sponsorship
Key aspects of the Project Manager position include:
- Commercial and technical responsibility for engineering project delivery from contract award through to customer handover
- Manage customer requirements, project scope, engineering deliverables, budgets and timescales
- Coordinate engineering, procurement and site resources throughout supplier-side engineering project delivery
- Monitor project costs, stage payments, variations and commercial performance
- Identify risks to project delivery and resolve technical, commercial and delivery issues
- As Project Manager, lead projects through FAT, installation, commissioning and final customer handover
- Deliver projects across a varied blue-chip customer base within the process, utilities, manufacturing and nuclear sectors
The company has grown consistently over a number of years and the Project Manager position has been created as part of its continued expansion.
You’ll be joining a highly regarded engineering team working from modern, high-spec offices, with the chance to lead supplier-side engineering project delivery across several industries rather than being tied to one sector.
There is a genuine career path, structured personal development and support towards Chartered status for candidates looking to achieve it.
The role is predominantly office based with occasional customer site visits.
The Cheshire office is well connected by road and public transport and is commutable from Warrington, Runcorn, Widnes, Northwich, Chester, Stockport, Manchester and Liverpool.
If you’re a Project Manager with a background in supplier-side engineering project delivery – from controls and automation through to capital equipment, machine building or engineering contracting – please send your CV for an immediate response
