About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and politically astute Public Affairs Officer to join their team in Bristol . This critical role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with government officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders to advocate for the company's interests. You will monitor legislative and regulatory developments, develop policy positions, and craft persuasive communication materials. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to influence public policy and shape the company's strategic engagement with government bodies in the South West region and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic public affairs and government relations plans.
• Monitor political and legislative landscapes, identifying opportunities and risks for the organization.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, regulators, and industry associations.
• Prepare policy briefings, position papers, and advocacy materials for internal and external stakeholders.
• Represent the organization at relevant government meetings, industry forums, and public consultations.
• Advise senior leadership on public policy issues and their potential impact on the business.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in public affairs , government relations, policy analysis, or a related field.
• Proven experience in engaging with policymakers and government bodies.
• Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory processes.
• Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Ability to work under pressure and navigate complex political environments in Bristol .
