Public Affairs Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a knowledgeable and politically astute Public Affairs Officer to join their team in Edinburgh . This role is crucial for managing relationships with government bodies, policymakers, and key stakeholders to advocate for the company's interests and influence policy development. You will be responsible for monitoring legislative changes, developing policy positions, and engaging in constructive dialogue with public officials. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor relevant government policies, legislation, and regulatory developments impacting the industry.
• Develop and implement strategies to effectively engage with policymakers, government officials, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare policy briefings, position papers, and responses to consultations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key contacts in government, Parliament, and relevant public bodies.
• Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and public forums.
• Advise senior management on public affairs issues and potential political risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or policy advocacy.
• Strong understanding of the UK political system and policy-making processes.
• Excellent analytical, research, and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with influential individuals.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and advocacy campaigns.
