About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Public Affairs Officer to join their team in Edinburgh . This role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with government officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders to advocate for the organisation's interests. You will monitor legislative and regulatory developments, and develop strategies to influence public policy. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the political landscape. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape policy and contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor government policy, legislation, and regulatory changes relevant to the organisation.
- Develop and implement public affairs strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with parliamentarians, civil servants, and other key influencers.
- Prepare policy briefings, position papers, and consultation responses.
- Represent the organisation in relevant forums, committees, and working groups.
- Analyse the impact of policy developments and advise senior management accordingly.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the political and legislative processes in the UK.
- Excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Superb interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport easily.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and advocacy.
- A relevant degree in Politics, Law, Economics, or a related discipline is preferred.
