About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and politically astute Public Affairs Officer to join their team in Edinburgh . This role is vital for managing the company's engagement with government bodies, policymakers, and key stakeholders to advocate for our interests and shape public policy. You will be responsible for monitoring legislative developments, developing policy positions, and fostering constructive relationships. Working within a hybrid model, you will have the opportunity to engage directly with decision-makers while also benefiting from remote flexibility for strategic planning and reporting, contributing significantly to our public policy objectives in Scotland .
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze relevant government policies, legislation, and regulatory changes affecting the industry.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage with policymakers, government officials, and industry associations.
- Prepare policy briefings, position papers, and consultation responses.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in government and regulatory bodies.
- Represent the company at relevant industry forums, conferences, and parliamentary committees.
- Advise senior management on public affairs matters and potential political risks or opportunities.
Requirements
- Degree in Politics, Public Policy, Law, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in public affairs, government relations, or policy analysis, preferably within the UK or Scottish context.
- Strong understanding of the political landscape and legislative processes.
- Excellent research, analytical, and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Adaptability to work effectively in a hybrid arrangement , balancing office-based meetings with remote strategic work in Edinburgh .
